Most of my friends are getting married, buying cars, and moving ahead. I have a stable job but still live with my parents and sometimes feel like I’m behind everyone else.
I used to think exactly like this when I was 28. Every time I opened Instagram, it felt like someone was getting married, buying property, or moving abroad. Meanwhile, I was still sharing a home with my parents and trying to save money. What eventually helped me was realizing that people only share their highlights. One friend who looked very successful online was actually struggling with debt. Another had family support that I didn’t have. Life isn’t a race where everyone starts from the same line. Instead of comparing timelines, I started tracking my own progress. I focused on building savings, improving my skills, and getting healthier. Three years later, I was in a much stronger position financially than many people I had envied. My advice is to define success for yourself rather than borrowing someone else’s definition.
