Joined a mid-size Karachi company six months ago and my manager literally screams at people during team meetings, once made a colleague cry in front of 20 people. Old employees act like it’s normal but it doesn’t feel right.
No, it is not normal and you should not let anyone convince you it is. I worked in three different companies in Karachi before landing somewhere decent, and yes this behavior exists in many places but that doesn’t make it acceptable or healthy. Here is what I’d actually do: first, quietly document every incident with date, time, what was said, and who witnessed it — keep this on your personal email, not company devices. Second, start a silent job search immediately. You do not owe loyalty to a workplace that normalizes humiliation. Give yourself a three-month deadline. If nothing changes and you haven’t found something better, decide then. A toxic boss rarely changes, especially when senior management ignores it.
